2011 Gamers Reunion Charity Partner
Gamers Reunion, an annual table-top gaming convention co-sponsored by Rochester Gamers' Community (RGC), is proud to announce this year's charity partnership with the Rochester chapter of the Ronald McDonald House.
Jeff King, Treasurer of Gamers Reunion, stated he was looking forward to once again partnering with the Ronald McDonald House. "Last year we had a short turn around because of our date switch from September to April. Despite this the gaming community stepped up to the challenge and raised a lot of money for this worthy cause. I'm extremely happy to be working with them again. I've toured the house and I've seen what the volunteer staff there do with the funds raised and it truly cannot go to a greater place. The Ronald McDonald House is a great fit with our attempts to be an annual community outreach event as well as a table-top gaming event. I think it is a great partnership and I'm proud to be working with them again," King said. "We have proven that the gaming community is generous and filled with the spirit of giving back to the surrounding community. I look forward to continuing that tradition this year and for many years to come."
The upcoming 2011 convention will host a sealed-bid silent auction table to benefit the Ronald McDonald House. The convention is also host to the "Gamers CHANGE The World" initiative, started in 2010 by King. Convention attendees have the opportunity to donate spare change throughout the weekend, as well as pledge to match funds raised in this manner. King also stated that 2011 will bring new opportunities to raise funds for the Ronald McDonald House. "We're lucky enough to partner with great organizations that believe in what we do. The Fantasy Flight Games Event Center has approached Gamers Reunion and offered to run a charity Warhammer 40K tournament with all the proceeds benefiting the Ronald McDonald House. They've also offered to donate several items to be placed on the auction table this year," King said.
